Salvation
“What must I do to be saved?” This question was asked of Paul from his jailer. The answer was simple, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.” (Acts 16:30) So how do you do that? Jesus answers that question in John 14:6, “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” So we must believe that “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13). Accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour will not only save you from hell, but also give you health, joy, peace, love, hope, unconditional acceptance, favour, the power to get wealth — every good thing that you can think of and more!

ACCEPTING JESUS AS YOUR LORD & SAVIOUR
Jesus Christ
Central Truth:
The understanding of Christ is hugely important. Most importantly because it relates to our decision that we have made to be in relationship with Christ. “The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.” (Colossians 1:1) I can imagine local people everywhere when Jesus showed up talking, speculating, arguing, ideologising… Did you hear…, It is said of him that… Did you know…? Especially the religious people of the day, the teachers of the law. Jesus was incomparable. We always try to compare public figures with similar people in history because we like to categorise in order to have a reference point. An understanding of the Lordship of Christ must be birthed from the knowledge of who He is and what He accomplished on our behalf. Christ alone is worthy to be Lord over the entire scope of our lives.
JESUS IS LORD BECAUSE OF WHO HE IS.
- Jesus is the only begotten Son of the Father.
- Jesus is God the Son.
- He made all things at creation.
- Jesus was God manifested in the flesh.
JESUS IS LORD BECAUSE OF WHAT HE ACCOMPLISHED.
- Jesus was tempted in every way, yet did not sin.
- Jesus lived in absolute submission and agreement with the will of the Father
- Jesus died for our sins and rose from the dead on the third day.
- Christ was granted Lordship upon His resurrection from the grave.
- He ascended to the right hand of the Father and is interceding for us.
- Jesus has been exalted and given a name above every name.
JESUS IS LORD OF OUR LIVES
The word Lord simply means supreme authority. Therefore, making Jesus Lord of our lives is to give Him supreme authority.
- Lordship begins at the point of salvation.
- Having been saved and confessed that Jesus is your Lord, the Spirit of God
- Our duty is to submit our will to God just as Christ submitted His will the Lord begins to exercise Lordship over every area of life.
Repentance & Salvation
Central Truth:
Repentance from sin and faith toward God are the primary responses to having heard the gospel and together constitute the new birth experience. Jesus and Paul linked them together like heads and tails of the same coin. After salvation, they continue to play a vital role in the Christian’s life.
REPENTANCE
Hebrews 6: 1 – “Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God.” (NIV)
WHAT IS REPENTANCE?
- Repentance is the foundation of every genuine relationship with God. It is the act of turning away from sin and to Christ with a change of heart and mind, and is followed by a wilful change in behaviour.
- Repentance is birthed from a realisation of God’s holiness and our own sinfulness.
- The goodness of God causes men to repent, not fear.
THE IMPORTANCE OF REPENTANCE
- The importance of repentance is emphasised by the place of priority it is given in scripture. It is listed as the first principle in Hebrews 6:1, and is the first word of the gospel preached by Jesus, the Apostles, and the Prophets.
- Jesus called sinners to repent as an alternative to perishing.
- True repentance is a gift of God’s grace and cannot be experienced by the will of man alone.
THE REWARD OF REPENTANCE IS ABUNDANT.
- Sins are blotted out.
- Purges the conscience.
- Imparts new life.
Faith
WHAT IS FAITH?
Faith is a decision to trust and believe God’s Word above all else. Hebrews 11: 1– “Now faith is the assurance, the confirmation, the title deeds of the things we hope for, being the proof of things we do not see and the conviction of their reality, faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses.” (AMP)
THE IMPORTANCE OF FAITH
Faith is far more than just knowing a thing to be true. It is fervent conviction that produced action.
- Like repentance, faith is the foundation of our relationship with God, without which it is impossible to please Him.
- Righteousness is credited to all those who believe in the atoning work of Jesus. Righteousness is the character or quality of being right or just.
- Simple and active faith in Jesus Christ results in salvation.
- By faith we are justified. Justification means “to render just or innocent.”
